Intellectual Propert (IP) refers to anything original that anyone creates, it is their intellectual property if it is protected by the law.
That original creation could be an image that you’ve created, a name of a product, designing a theme for a website, writing a song and so on, basically anything that you’ve made by yourself. That is however, until you decide to sell your ownership rights to that product to a client.
But, if it is your intellectual property, you have the exclusive rights to use, alter and profit from it, you als have the right to license your to others.
The creation that you’ve made is however only yours, unless that you are an emplooyee and the design was something you created as a part of your job. It would then automatically be your employers intellectual property, this is know as work for hite arrangement.
There are 4 types of intellectual property. Depending on what type of IP there is, it has a more protected status. The symbols used to identify the different IP’s, and that is to protect the IP but to also avoid infringing on the rights of others.
Original Works
Copyright is a typ of IP that protects original works of authorships, as soon as it is created. They’re protected under the copyright law when they are independently created by a human and have a minimal degree of creativity added to it. By making something independently, refers to the author to create it themselves without copying someone elses work.
